This iconic Door County lighthouse has been photographed and drawn hundreds of times just in my lifetime. For the most part it has been portrayed as a beautiful sunny summer scene with blue skys and white puffy clouds. Although I admire most of these views my goal was to show the strength of this structure.
What I hope the viewer feels after seeing this image is both the almost forbidding raw power of this structure as well as the sense of safety mariners must have sensed when this lighthouse came into view as they fought their way to safe harbor in a gale.
This print is 16" by 24" on metal.
David has had a 50 year passion for photography. In person this shot is even more stunning. (The shot use for this online store is a picture of the work hanging on the wall.)
